Rita was born in Dublin, the fifth of seven children in a family where singing came naturally to all. In the late seventies, at the age of fourteen she and her sisters were playing in the pubs and clubs of Dublin. Before long she was appearing with groups such as Midnight Well, Scullion and Stagalee and artists such as Paul Brady, Christy Moore and Donal Lunny. It was through her association with Midnight Well that she first began to work with Shaun Davey, who at the time was composing and producing TV and radio commercials. Working together they widened their horizons in theatre and film work, to date Rita has featured in a number of stage plays and films as well as over twenty albums. |

Maggie MacInnes is one of Scotland's foremost Gaelic singers and clarsach players. She comes from a long line of singers from the island of Barra in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland and through her haunting, expressive singing and sympathetic arrangements, Maggie helps to bring the beauties of this music to an ever widening audience. Maggie has been involved in various groups over the years such as Ossian, Fuaim and Eclipse First and has travelled widely with her music touring in many parts of Europe, U.S.A. and Canada. She also appears frequently on Radio and Television and has made various recordings over the years. |

Kirsten Easdale, a member of Scottish traditional band Calasaig, brings to us her expressions of faith in Be Not Afraid, a collection of songs from various composers (including herself). Almost all tracks on the CD are arranged by Kirsten and her husband, Keith. Keith Easdale, also of Calasaig, as well as the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra's principal piper, appears on the CD playing a host of instruments.
