Daddy's Coal BETTY ELDERS Daddy's Coal Recorded in Texas in 1989. This album showcases the open hearted songwriting and evocative singing of Betty Elders. The nine songs are sparse, acoustic-based, folk/country compositions, though "Welcome Home Heart" sports a jazzy swing. Elders's acoustic guitar playing forms the instrumental core of the bulk of the material, with other instruments--notably fiddle, acoustic bass, mandolin, and dobro--tastefully integrated to add color and texture without detracting from the vocals. Nice stuff.

Betty Elders is the finestest voice in county music today and this 1989 release is a must have. Listen to Betty sing "Welcome Home Heart" and tell me it isn't reminiscent of Patsy Cline! Betty's Best: "Daddy"s Coal" -" Never Think Of You At All" - "Welcome Home Heart"
